We're all on the Judge Dredd slo-mo drug. :stick:

I hope when Arian gets back on, he'll do a new event. Half of us can literally not do anything until the result of our combo attack on Enrico is settled.

Colio is still here, but just busy the last couple days. He asked me a few hours ago on Xbox Live what has happened. As for estebanus, I do not know but didn't he say he wouldn't be able to post much due to his school or something?

Figured as much, just making sure that getting injured didn't put Coolio off or something.

Anyway, the post is now up.

Oh and Selim? You got your wish; just not in the way you expected, I bet.

Actually I feel that this way works out better story-wise, so thank you. I can't do anything until someone gets online though, what with a broken ankle that surely got into worse condition with the impact and my face all cut up.

Edit1:Very well done boss-kill scene by the way. Joyful

Edit2: Also, nobody try to remove my hand from my face. I have a plan.

Thanks much.

By the way; how do you feel about how I've done ghouls, and these ghouls in particular? I'm debating whether or not to leave them in the setting of the actual novels or not. I was originally planning not to, but they've grown on me.

I think you should keep them. Every fantasy world needs zombie-like creatures, and ghouls being both intelligent and fast are a refreshing change to the cliche zombies that are in most stories.

Re: Inheritances: Consequence - Conversation Thread - Just For Fun

Post by Arian Dynas on Sat Jan 19, 2013 4:44 am

Thread Mytosis.

As to the ghouls, it's kind of funny, ghouls have re-introduced themselves to my setting; the Inetach, formerly known as the Ghule, had gone through ALOT to become what they are now.

Originally they were some kind of nebulously defined orc-like race of millitant soldiers called the Ghule. I axed that quickly enough; I grew up and learned that quite often, man is far monstrous than anything we could imagine. So I made them human, less militant, less boring, less overdone, then, slowly I began to move away from the "ghule" entirely, retaining only the token bit that their leader is called a "Ogre" which I might do away with entirely.

To be honest; I'm glad I did. They moved from a generic race of throwaway baddies, to becoming a lost, exiled people, responsible for turning a large chunk of the planet into a irradiated desert in their hunt for immortality and the power to challenge both the gods and the Dominion both, forced the banishment of their contemporaries, the "Lost Tribe" of Esara, resulted in the founding of the Thyatic Empire, formed from the abandoned lower classes of their much larger empire, and eventually became a race of book-burning, tribal raiders.

Some fascinating highlights of their culture include;

1). They burn books out of the belief that books trap knowledge, and that by burning them, they release it into the universe where it can be equally shared. Their Shamans learn their magic from such books by meticulously copying reversed tattoos of the images and text into their skin, not to use their skin as spellbooks, but as both training in pain-tolerance, and a concentration/memorization exercise. They are, of course, cremated upon death.

2). The tribal leader is advised by a council of 15 former shamans, who are kept on as intelligent undead; once he dies, the eldest of the 15 goes on to the afterlife, while he joins their ranks as a matter of duty.

3). Magic is used by ALL members of the tribe, and is taught from the cradle; they specialize in divination and necromatic magics.

4). They focus heavily on ancestor worship; the gods abandoned them a long time ago.

5). The females rule what few permanent cities they have, all of which are hidden; the males raid and hunt etc during most of the year, returning to winter, moving about in camps, giving the image of uncultured savages.

6). Those who live on the plains bond with their horses to a nearly supernatural degree, with a rider who dies, being followed by his horse in death (usually willingly; the horse leaps onto the funeral pyre), while a rider who survives his horse is sent into the wilderness to find another; if they bond with a new horse, then it is said to be the first, re-incarnated; if the fail, the horse clearly wants his master to join it in death, and he is killed accordingly. Some commit suicide, refusing to even seek a new mount entirely.

7). Members of the culture traditionally take part in tattooing and ritual scariication, along with entire grafts, not necessarily from human bodies, and, occassionally are afflicted with various, and sometimes terrifying mutations.

8). Unbeknownst to the people themselves, one being they revere as being among the greatest of their ancestors is actually a horrifying Cthuluish monster from before the beginning of time.

@Arian
That's a cool backstory for the ghouls, or the Inatech as we now know they are called.

@eveyone else
I think that the priest, Rodrigo, and Llan should be taken upstairs to be treated by Bachello the butler, then the rest of the party continue with the funeral.

Well the only thing the guy's you're dealing with now have in common with the Inetach, whom were an available ethnicity at creation, is a name that one group used to share.

What you're interacting with now are undeniably dead, formerly living, beings, closer to the traditional D&D sense of the word Ghoul, not my raiding biblophobic tribesmen.

Ah. Ok, never mind then. I will continue to refer to them as ghouls then.

OK read the post. One minor point of contention is Ven doesn't have an actual shield, but it could just be a generic defensive term.

I could catch Llan because I'm probably closest and have quick reflexes.

I wasn't talking about Ven, he struck at John.

My mistake, it looked like it from the way he turned around.
