I can't believe Dragonborn is still 360 exclusive. Is this going to be a new trend in gaming? MS throws money at developers so cross-platform games only get DLC with them, or only until nobody gives a fuck anymore?

On a side note, I'm sick of half-arsed PC ports. I know coding for PC's is hard, developers, truely I do. p.s. Fuck Rockstar for still not releasing Red Dead Redemption on PC. Seriously, we get a horrible port of GTA4 but no RDR?

The RDR situation sickens me, I have to play it sub 30 fps because you guys cant bring it to PC? LA Noire is on PC (even though I think that is also locked at 30fps)!

Actually the problems with the PS3 has nothing to do with processing power. More than a few developers have expressed that the PS3 can be hard to develop games for or port games too. Still does not excuse the immense delay which has been, but it is slightly more understandable.

PC, no excuse though for anything. Seriously I really want Dragonborn for PC, but I have to wait...at least there is a ton of good mods out to pass time with.

Comparing Dragonborn to mods is fucking retarded. Very few mods add any storyline content, fewer still do it without sucking more dick than Chris Priestly at a job interview, and exactly zero even come close to what a developer can do.

Just the fact that everything has voiceovers nowadays eliminates the ability of modders to make decent storyline additions. Not only do you need an array of reasonably skilled VA's, but you also need a place to record them. Voice acting is hard, and decent audio equipment is expensive. The stuff you use to coordinate in multiplayer games doesn't cut it for recording quality voiceovers.

Then there's all the new models and shit you need. Do you know how many new graphics came with Dawnguard? If you manage even a couple of weapons or pieces of clothing with that kind of quality for a mod, you're going to be among the top rated modders. Nevermind making entirely new zone designs like the Soul Cairn. Hell no. That's not simply not happening.

The great majority of mods are either graphic or game mechanic tweaks. Almost none of them add any actual content. If they do give you something to do in-game, they do it by giving you a new timesink. Because yes, there's apparently hordes of people out there who hate needing less than a solid week to max out their weapon skills in a single player game and full-on masturbate when they get killed by a skeever at lvl 12.

So no, mods do not excuse Bethesda whoring out to Microsoft.

The problem is by all rights if anyone gets it first it should be PCs. Sandbox RPGs used to be the home of things like skyrim but no, these days everything ever must come out on as many platforms as possible.

Ps3 is still waiting on all 3 dlcs. Bethesda is lucky the base game can keep a man entertained for hundreds of hours.

LOL, for the longest time ME3 didn't have splash screens to alert players on Galaxy At War of weekend operations. PSN is shit. Lots of companies have lots of problems with it.

I meant that atleast PC users can have some fun with mods while they wait, unlike PS3 users.
And the "based on" is because the Skyrim mods allowed to ride horses and dragons, before the DLC. Thats what it meant, sorry for miscomunication.

PSN's recently got a shyte interface that makes it far more difficult than it needs to be to find items. Whoever came up with it needs to be put down.

PSN does have a superior value for money at least (being free). And Playstation Plus gives a heck of a lot for the money.

Interface is clunky as hell though. But at least it doesn't lag anymore. I remember playing Tekken about 4-5 years ago at my friend's house, and not being able to do any proper combos because it was delayed by about a second so I had to resort to button mashing.

But yeah, if developers have issues making DLC for PS3 why do they keep making games for it? Surely it must be harder to make a game work on the PS3 in the first place!

I agree with you to an extent (certainly the whoring to Microsoft), but if had to choose, no dlc or no mods? I'd pick no dlc every time.

Same here. I rather like some mods. Mods can often help balance or even fix a game that's long been abandoned by the developers.

Problem is, modern games are often very hard to mod. Developers seem to take more time insuring no-one can 'tamper' with the files then they do making the game run smoothly or have an extended lifespan on its own.

However, if the option was between mods and developers caring for their products post-launch with patches and expansion packs, I'd take the latter.

I really miss expansion packs, most games don't seem to have them anymore. Instead, developers seem to think DLC that only adds an hour or two to the game, or even releasing the exact same game with a few minor tweeks for full price again is perfectly acceptable. I think its bullshit.

Blizzard is one of the few companies to still do this. And usually their expansion packs completely renovate the game to the point its a new game - without making the old game completely worthless. WC3 and The Frozen Throne are prime examples of this. Though that was nearly ten years ago now!
