The real issue is, that we are going to have to kill Solas. Like WTF dude I thought we was bros?

Serious tho, the real issue here is the way they try to "realistically" reflect a given orientation or identity. That is to say if they make a character gay, it has to practically define that character. Whereas Stardew Valley just made it so you could romance anyone you wanted regardless of your character's sex. The dialogue didn't change, the character didn't dress/look/act a certain way, etc. It wasn't forced on you either way and wasn't shove in your face in the slightest. You had to actively go out of your way to romance that character to "define" them as gay/straight.

The more the merrier anyways? If you make all characters technically Bisexual, then every player has more romance options. Because shit I'm a dude and sometimes I play female characters and make their romance a lesbian one just because. I normally don't really relate with any particular kind of sexuality or romance because in reality I'm just a cynical loner that would much rather remain alone. I play RPG to play characters I would never actually dream of being IRL anyways.

Point is it couldn't be called politics if it had been expressed in a /neutral/ way. My annoyance towards the people complaining is that technically their own expectation is a political one: If you make all characters heterosexual or predominantly 1 skin color, that's technically "heterosexual politics" and "pro-white politics". My issue is never with the representation either way, it's when that focus reduces their ability to actually create engaging characters.

Personally I like DAI's companions and characters, it's MEA that the Squadmates are pretty shitty compared to the OG trilogy. I think the characters in DAI are great, kind of annoyed tho that Solas was as unique and deep as he was because he was the next game's big bad. But they won me over when they basically put Doctor Strange into the game, I don't care that he's gay lol

I'm gonna be seriously pissed if we're forced to kill Solas.  I do NOT want to be forced to kill Solas.

I want to be able to spare him so I can not do it.  I want to choose to kill him (or much worse).  I don't want to have to.

I don't think you're getting it.  We're not talking about "oh no'es, there's a gay character", we're talking about them introducing transsexuals and trying to sell us that the QUNARI of all people are all accepting and cool about it.  This is an DISEASE of a "culture" that brainwashes and lobotomizes people for crimes like romantic attachment.  Trying to tell me they're more accepting than the real world in 2018 is some of the dumbest bullshit since ME:A.  You want to tell me there's people with gender dysphoria?  Fine.  You want to tell me they're doing okay with it in a world like Thedas?  Shut the fuck up.  This is one of the many, many, many, many, MANY reasons that CDPR's Witcher games are superior to Dragon Age: they actually portray that era as being as socially stunted and fucking terrible as it was.  Women aren't so into Geralt because looking like Dracula 10 minutes after Moon Knight demanded his fucking money gets them wet, they're just happy to meet a guy who isn't beating the shit out of them.

I never give a fuck about the romance options.  In any game.  I didn't pick up a game in the category "epic RPG" to get my virtual rocks off.  And in Bileware games, that's all it is.  Romances in Bileware games are just a dash to a sweaty night, nothing more.  After you've nailed the misfit of your choice, there's no more romance content.  Because that was the goal, wasn't it?  Has anyone at Bileware actually been laid?  Sex isn't the final boss of relationships, it's the end of the tutorial level.

This is pretty much why I prefer many of the Mass Effect romances, at least the ones that start in 2 and 3, like Liara, Garrus and Tali, because they at least force the writers to consider things beyond the sex scene.

It aint perfect or nearly as well as things could have been done, but it was at least something in that direction.
