Re: Katawa Shoujo Thread
On this playthrough I'm making a conscious effort to pronounce the names properly in my head, which is hard because I ingrained them incorrectly with five playthroughs.
Hisao is "Hee-sah-oh", not "Hee-seh-oh"
Shizune is "She-zoo-neh", not "She-zoon" (or if you know French, it would be Shizuné)
Emi is "Eh-mee" (just like "Amy"), not "Ee-mee"
Rin is "Reen", not, well, "Rin"
Also, the "Hicchan" and "Shicchan" nicknames are pronounced with a pause, that's what the double consonant means. It would be "She-chan", but not with a full stop, like two words, it's more of a half stop. An example in English would be "Uh-oh".
At least I got Hanako's name right

Re: Katawa Shoujo Thread
As german, the pronouncement-stuff is pretty easy for me, the only thing that's different is stressed syllables and vowels:
Ger: Hanakô (o long)
Jap: Hanakó (o short)
Ger: Hanakô (o long)
Jap: Hanakó (o short)
Re: Katawa Shoujo Thread
Well first of all I hope I'm not introducing but after I played the game I felt the need to share my thoughts with you all :) .
After seeing alot of people talking about the game and having avatars and such I found myself quite curious about the game. Not being an anime/manga fan I was a little suspicious and didn't really thought I would like it.
Of course I was wrong . It was a completely different game from what I usual play and still I found myself playing it hours in a row.
That said my personal favourite was Hanako which was actually the first I played, by random too. It was so touching and beautiful, it's a little shameful to admit but I almost cried while playing it. Emi and Lily were close seconds. I didn't really connected with Shizune, though I quite liked the story. Rin's story frustrated the hell out of me, that girl was really something. The only things that I didn't like were that sometimes the sex scenes seemed a little forced and unnatural, seemed like they were only made because the dev's wanted too. Hanako's route seemed really short too, but aside of that it was a beautiful and unique game.
So yeah thank you guys for introducing me this amazing game.

I like my pronunciation of Shizune as "Shi-zoon" better than the correct one.
Rin is "Reen", not, well, "Rin"
I vaguely recall one of the devs saying that despite the correct Japanese pronunciation of name Rin, her name is actually pronounced as rhyming with bin.

I kind of like that better too, but I'm going to try anyway.
"Rin" is definitely better.

Thanks to all the manga I've read and anime I've watched, I never had a problem with the pronunciation of the names.

Re: Katawa Shoujo Thread
Wow, I had no idea Hanako's was that close to your story. And by close, I mean you were a year younger and are male, and... that's it.
I'm not really good at writing things like this, but I really appreciate you having the courage to talk about what happened to you, I can't imagine that was easy. I consider you, as well as many other people here to be very good friends, the fact that we can't really all meet in person doesn't change that.
And while it makes perfect sense that you'd be more comfortable talking with people when they can't see you (like this), I'll at least speak for myself in saying that you being burned has as much to do with who you are as me having blue eyes. Meaning, it doesn't matter at all; it doesn't change anything.

Man, with all your hinting about it, I'd figured you'd lost your parents in some way, but I never knew how close to Hanako's life your life was. That must have been really hard, and I'm glad you've come through it as well as you have. Thank you for sharing, even though I know it must have been hard.

I was originally going to write in more detail, but I couldn't muster enough courage to do it. I also appreciate your kind words.BleedingUranium wrote:Wow, I had no idea Hanako's was that close to your story. And by close, I mean you were a year younger and are male, and... that's it.

I wouldn't say I'm doing better, I'm still like Act 1 Hanako in real life, but thank you for the kind words.Byne wrote:
