Mass Effect TV Series (How I'd Do It)

So this is probably gonna be a whole long paragraph but I just wanted to get my ideas down somewhere, just to get it out. As the title suggest I'm going to break down how IF I was able to adapt Mass Effect and turn it into a TV series. On the same scale of Game Of Thrones. This is how I'd Pace it out for each season and the basic story line of each.

So basically the series would consist of 9 seasons each 13 episodes long. seasons 1-3 would focus on the plot of the first Mass Effect game. Seasons 4-6 would focus on the second and seasons 7-9 would focus on the third. With the series concluding at the end of season 9.

That's a 117, hour-long episodes to tell the full mass effect story. This would be built for HBO, as they give the larger budget and more creative freedom then most networks.

Season 1 would focus on explaining the universe setting up politics and plot lines that will extend throughout the show. Episode 1 would just set up Commander Sheperad, Joker, Kaiden, Captain Anderson, Commander Pressley, Engineer Adams, Dr.Chakwas, The Normandy, systems alliance. Nihlus, Udina as well . Eden prime would happen in the second episode, Meeting Ashley. The citadel would appear in the third episode, the hearing etc. Then episode 4-6 would focus on getting info on Saren to present to the council, meeting such characters as Wrex and Garrus. And minor characters such as Barla Von, The Consort and Executor Palin. Episode 7 would involve rescuing Liara, then season 8-13 would focus on more development as well as some interesting political things back on the citadel, Giving Udina, Captain Anderson, Excutor Palin, The Consort and Barla Von larger roles. The main focus for shepard and the crew would be feros which would take place roughly between episode 10-13. Throughout the season more context behind Saren and his motives as well as Liara's Mother

Season 2 Would focus on Bring Down The Sky, Noveria. More happenings on the citadel, some select side quests from the game. Love traingle starts forming between Liara Shepard and Ashley in a subtle way. Shepard releases the Rachni Queen

Season 3 would focus on more of the character driven side quests, Garru's, Wrex's, Tali's, Virmire, Kaiden Dies. Illos, the attack on the citadel. The finale would end on a big cliff hanger, Normandy is blown up, Instead of him getting sent out to drift in space hes knocked out and is still on the Normandy while it crashes on the nearest planet . Instead of dying he's just place in a coma though is presumed dead.

Season 4 Opens with Liara working with Cerberus to retrieve his body, however they trick her and steal the body instead of bringing it to the citadel for medical attention and so that Liara could prove that he's still alive. Episode 2 opens with the Cerberus station being attacked, and Shepard having to escape. The rest of the season focuses on him recruiting half of the squad. Including Kasumi and Zaeed. Aria T'lok plays a big role

Season 5 Focuses on  the attack on that one colony Ashley makes a cameo , Recruiting more squad members, Lair Of The Shadow Broker. A few Loyalty Missions. Araia T'lok plays a big role as well as omega,

Season 6 More loyalty Missions, Acquire the Reaper IFF, Omega is taken over by Cerberus. Arrival and finally the suicide mission. Captain Anderson leaves the concil Undina replaces him, Bailey kills Executor Plain for being a reaper sleeper agent.

Season 7 The Fall Of Earth, Heading To Palven's Moon, shows more fighting on Palaven Itself, character development etc etc

Season 8, Leviathan, Retake Omega, Tuchanka, Citadel Coup, more of the fight back on earth

Season 9,  Asari Homeworld falls, , Sanctuary, Citadel DLC, Attack On Cerberus, Retake earth.

The whole ending would be reworked to fit a more tv friendly ending. Don't know the best way to end it. But Shepard would still die in a different way however. Still saving the day though

ME1 - Several to a dozen episodes, one with Cerberus foreshadowing

ME2 - Already pretty set up by the episodic mission format... maybe merge some events together like Grunt+Mordin Loyalty

ME3 - Another couple dozen episodes

But I agree with Selim.. I don't think Shepard would work.

We live in a world where there can be multiple tellings of a story. as long as the heart of the story still exists it's a good adaption. Personally I think Mass effect's story can be told, much better in tv format then even the game it's self. Yes I know blasphemy, but 117 hours of story, that more then it takes for the whole trilogy itself. There would be more context to events that can be explained in a better way. Plus it'd be cool to see more of the politics in Mass Effect then we've gotten see.

mass effect 1 in 1 season, finished off with shep being killed by the collectors.
mass effect season 2 begins with the crew in mourning going their separate ways, whereas liar tsoni goes and recovers sheps body from the collectors with the help of Cerberus. shep is reintroduced half way through the season, but is obviously not quite himself. the season ends with shepard finding veetor and the revelation of the collectors kidnapping humans.
mass effect season 3 is the formation of the group and collector base, but ends with sheps arrest and trial - followed by the reaper invasion.
mass effect season 4 is shepard fleeing earth and going looking for allies. it ends with the construction of the crucible and the gathering of the fleets ready for the attack on earth.
mass effect season 5 is the battle for earth, finding a way onto the citadel, the confrontation with tim. starjar, and finally the reapers defeat. home for milk andcookies.



5 seasons of 12 episodes should cover it.
