Everywhere I read, people seem to bugged by one thing thing more then others, why when the galaxy is burning, Shep is having a party and hanging out? The one line on the main menu - "Allied forces are holding steady and winning in key locations.". Thats all the excuse I need Cool

But that line of thinking also opens up a whole can of worms regarding everyone telling me we are losing constantly, but still Tongue

I truly cannot imagine this DLC taking place during the Thessia-Sanctuary-Cronos arc. I just can't.

"Thanks for putting that tracking device on Kai Leng, Miranda. But before we track him down and find out what the Catalyst is, lets go to the citadel and pick out some drapes for my apartment...and maybe get dressed up and go to the casino!"

Wha...what? Does not compute!

To be fair, the ME trilogy has always sucked at depicting the passage of time. In a war as giant and calculated as the Reaper War -- where travel times are not hours but days and weeks over light-years of distance -- there probably would be downtime, I guess. It's just that the story itself, this DLC and Levi aside, had a sense of urgency so it seems outta whack IMO.

But I agree that the MP update on the status of the war is totally a good enough excuse for me. :) Shep isn't the only military leader and she's certainly not the highest ranked, and she gets all the special ops anyway. Let my badass MP crew wipe out the Reapers for a while. Wooooo.

Here's how I rationalize it... it's a game, nobody's going to actually die, so I don't have to care about it supposedly happening.

Same thing as doing side-quests in ME1. Stopping Saren is supposedly a "race against time" according to the journal. But it's not, and I know that, and kidding myself to think otherwise is just going to keep me from enjoying the game to its fullest.

Meta-gaming is not a cardinal sin. Everyone has to do it to some degree to play the game anyway.

Well, yeah, but the game is full of opportunities to do things that don't always make contextual sense. The whole trilogy is, really.

I suppose. But that fact that this dlc encourages not fighting the reapers...and the fact that my ME2 squad is too busy to help Shepard fight reapers, but not too busy to come to his apartment is what really bugs me. And you have to bring in the Normandy for repairs?? wtf? I upgraded it's shields, plating, and weapon in ME2 on the fly by scanning some planets. I never had to bring it in to prepare if for the omega 4 relay...idk...I'm just frustrated.

It's only couple days of R&R in a war that has lasted close to a year. Besides EDI spoke of the Normandy requiring extensive maintenance after the year has passed. It fits.

Has a year passed in-game? Wow, many millions must have died already. Guess it's time to get drunk and look at reports of Earth without any expression or notice (see Kaidan romance scene...).

The issue I have here is that we've all played through Chronos without the Normandy needing maintenance before now. It would certainly need maintenance after the battle for Earth however.

You know....the biggest complaint with the DLC (fun DLC btw) is that why would Shepard do this in the middle of the war? Partying, throwing thousands of credits at a Quasar screen while hundreds of refugees starved, etc.

This all could have been solved with IT. This DLC would've made a great, beautiful epilogue to the ultimate twist video games have ever produced.

I don't get it. It doesn't make sense to me.

The money spent on the games goes toward charity for refugees.

So if Shepard wins, refugees starve?

Hilarious fun. Charity should be giving, not gambling.

Wow. That's a very good point.

This whole DLC seems to be about ignoring everything about the galaxy, just to enjoy time with friends.

Suspect

Seriously. That exact moment made me reconsider the notion that this may be a dream. It was like, some part of Shepard's mind was trying to get through to him that what he's seeing can't be real because it just doesn't fit.

But, it wasn't a dream apparently. So, thanks for the reminder of ugly truth during my forced shore leave Bioware.

Otherwise I thought this was a pretty cool scene. Broshep with his bud, cooking up some steaks and clinking bottles in an effort to curry favor with the grill gods. It seemed particularly humanizing to me as that's basically what I do when I have friends over to my place. Made me like Kaiden even more. Made me glad I saved him during my favorite playthrough where I romance Miranda.

EDIT:

My thoughts exactly. What a great ending the whole DLC would have made! Yeah, the Reapers are dead, and the galaxy is saved, but here's a loose end no one would've expected! The lighter comedic tone would've fit perfectly. The greatest, most playable ending of all time.

Bioware is Edmonton. The studio for this show was Vancouver.

This is MUCH bigger than we thought, I'm getting quite sure.

"What you are experiencing is a temporary distortion of reality."

I think there's a reason Citadel was DLC, NOT a change to the ending. It's 'off' for a damn good reason.
