Was the Citadel a Hallucination: THE BAD SUSHI THEORY!
We all know that there are oddities in the Citadel DLC. They seem mild at first, but quickly compound upon themselves until we're left with an onslaught of questionable humor and hollow fanservice. No one theory has been able to piece it all together succinctly aside from generally agreeing that there are too many elements in the DLC that simply could not happen. Well, I'm here to bring you my own solution to our collective conundrum: a theory that explains all the oddities while simultaneously allowing Shepard to really have had a romp through the Citadel. I present to you...
The Bad Sushi Theory.
IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE POINT NUMBER ONE!
Behold, the Hanar mindfish. We learn of it from the bartender at the Silversun Casino. It secretes a hallucinogenic toxin that hanar find mildly intoxicating and causes other races to have vivid hallucinations. "What happens if humans eat it?" "Way more potent. And it releases into the body slowly, so it's best to clear your schedule for the entire weekend."
IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE POINT NUMBER TWO!
The first real mission of the Citadel DLC takes us to a sushi restaurant.
IRREFUTABLE EVIDENCE POINT NUMBER THREE!
FRENCH SUSHI! The sushi restaurant in question serves French Sushi. French Sushi includes such stomach churning oddities as grossly overfed goose organs stuffed between bits of rice and seaweed. The French sushi master must dare to experiment with the most exotic of ingredients to keep his restaurant ahead of his competitors.
.....I'm sorry, but Irrefutable Evidence Points Four, Five, Six, and Seven are presently unavailable. Please check back later. - the BST STAFF
As you can see, Shepard was clearly exposed to the fish, altering his perceptions for the whole of his shore leave. Did he really fight his clone? Of course n... maybe! Did Tali and EDI really just stand there and let Brooks lead us on over that wiped drive? Heck n.... probably not! The Bad Sushi Theory lets us conveniently overlook every instance of broken fourth walls and out of character correspondence. Isn't that convenient?
And the best part is... it wears off just in time for shore leave to end! Want to forget about accidentally sleeping with Javik? Not a problem! It never happened! See? The Bad Sushi Theory makes everything better!
DISCLAIMER:
That was a joke. ...mostly. I would be highly amused if evidence can be found to further support the theory.

Please. As if anything French food would make you hallucinate anything but a retreat.

What happened during a sushi related hallucination stays there.ZerebusPrime wrote:

Honestly its more plausible then the literal endings.
Parts of the DLC certainly do feel like a bad trip or a vivid dream. Details are wrong, characters are acting strange (or switching personalities) and the entire plot seems to be all but forgotten once we get into the Social aspect (with only Miranda seeming to have anything to say about it at all!).
Hallucinations would explain that. Even though I know its just a bit of fun, the concept does have some suprising credibility.
