Any Skyrim fans out here?
I thought a thread on Skyrim would be appropriate given how often the game came up on the old BSN thread. So tell me about your characters. What skills do they possess? What guilds have they joined? How into the role playing are you? Do your characters care about the civil war or the sudden return of dragons?

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
My main was a breton mage, joined the college and the imperials. Eventually got around to finishing the main plot. I have played dawnguard and the companions on another character. I find it really hard to be evil in games so haven't done the other guilds.
I plan to get hearthfire and dragonborn at the same time when it's released and do another full playthrough, it's been a while.

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
Got three main characters:
A Wood Elf Rogue who joined both the Dark Brotherhood and the Thieves Guild becoming the most notorious criminal in all of Skyrim.
A Khajiit Mage (yes I dont care about racial stats) who became Archmage and then turned her attention to the Dragon problem.
And finally a Argonian heavy plate warrior who spends most her time clearing out mines in order to mine the metals she needs to make her armor.
All in all I really like Skyrim and the mods are awesome (yay for PC) but certain things I felt were a step back from Oblivion, mostly the cities. For the most part they just dont feel as the cities of Oblivion and especially the Castles (or Holds) were a severe disappointment to someone like me who loved to play master thief, stealthily robbing an entire castle without beeing spotted.

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
Its interesting. In ME I find it really hard to be a renegade, yet I find it so easy to do in Skyrim.
My main is a Khajiit Assassin. I've joined both the dark brotherhood as well as the theives guid. Im wanted in Solitude for murder and theft with a bounty of over 5000 gold.
My character specializes in close and long range assassination. I have some points invested in both the illusion and conjuration tree. My strategy is to kill from the shadows. If that fails, summons make excellent decoys and invisibility allows me to escape and strike from the shadows again.
As for the civil war, I havent picked a side yet. I find the stormcloaks slightly less tolerable than the imperials

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
Funny I usually cant go evil in games, but in the Elder Scrolls series I have no qualms about cutting loose and going on a murderous rampage.
This was especially apparent in an Oblivion character I designed for the purpose of breaking the game.
He was a High Elf mage called Raistlin Majere. I then picked the Astronach sign, got as many mana increasing items as I could and some 50 Welkynd stones all the while leveling nearly only Destruction. Getting early access to the mage guild I used my knowledge of making money through stealing to achieve a large amount of gold without leveling a critical skill (beside Destruction).
Result was that by level 11 I had 100 Destruction and over 700 mana. With 100 Destruction i could make any Destruction spell I wanted as long as i had the mana to cast it (and money to pay for creation)
Result look like this:
"100 fire damage every second for 8 seconds on touch."
"Weakness to fire 100% for 8 seconds on touch."
I also made a ranged lightning variant with slightly less damage.
At level 11 this was instant kill even for guards and with 50 or so Welkynd stones to restore mana from I went on several killing sprees. No guard or other NPC could touch me as i killed them with a single beautiful spell.
That was fun.

Hehe yeah, but actually most of my Oblivion characters had original names. But this mage I intended from the start to see how much i could exploit the game play to become the ultimate mage, so the name was kinda fitting.

I couldn't think of a khajiit name to save my life, so I named mine Kasu'mi. I like to think she combines Thane's assassination skills, Kasumi's stealthiness, and Jack's ruthlessness.

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
I have two main characters for Skyrim.
A male Nord called John, who has joined every guild and while is a good guy, usually, has some very shady connections, such as the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood, both of which he now leads. He ultimately decided to back the Empire to stop the killing of the civil war, and took care of the dragon problem as soon as he could. Oh and he joined the Dawnguard and saved Skyrim from the vampires and is know a fully leveled up werewolf.
My second character is a male Orc called Ghorek, who has destroyed the Dark Brotherhood, and become Guild master of the Thieves Guild, and Harbinger of the Companions. He decided to follow in his standard Orc tradition of joining the Empire and stopped the civil war, shortly before defeating Alduin. Still needs to complete Dawnguard, and has not purchased Dragonborn.
You know this reminds me it's been awhile since I played Skyrim, I think I'll go pop the disc in later today.

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
Main: Vakar, the Nord Warrior, with his Daedra-Greatsword Anglachion, Level 48
He's a paragon character, so no DB or Thieves guild for him and he picked the empire, because even if he supports an independent Skyrim, he's aware of the Aldmeri menace and the Empire and Skyrim have to cooperate to defeat the elves
Second: Yuli, the Ashen Vampire, Level 45
She's a selfish renegon character, did DB and Thieves guild with her and started Dawnguard, but haven't finished it yet, hasn't picked a side because she doesn't give a damn about the conflicts of mortals
Third: Asgar, the Nord Adventurer, Level 7 RP character
He's my character for extensive roleplaying, including basic needs like hunger and sleep, owning a little shack outside of Falkreath and he's a hunter in the woods, selling fur and meat in town. Sometimes he goes on a little adventure to earn some extra money, or he goes out hunting in the northern glaciers for more valuable prey
Question: What mods do you guys recommend?

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
Finally playing as a Nord (Vandemar Croup, Neverwhere reference), had previously got pretty leveled with a Khajiit (Q.T. McWhiskers) and a wood elf (Amos Moses, what can I say, big Jerry Reed fan).
I'm liking going back to a Nord, played all 1,2,3 and most of 4 with a Nord. Its also kinda nice not being treated so bad by everyone for being a provincial.

Moonpaths of Elsweyr is a nice little side mission giving a taste of how Elswyer might look if every realized in Skyrim.
Immersive Armors and Immersive Weapons, both mods add several new armors and weapons to the game. Really nice and fits right in with the rest of the game. Double bonus as it adds the different equipment to NPC's as well so it also increases the variety in your encounters.
There is also one which adds Birds who Perch on trees and a Realistic Animal Behavior mod which is also good, but cant find their exact names currently.
Beyond that most top rated texture and resolution mods on Skyrim nexus are usualy worth it if your computer can handle it.

Getting mistreated is an interesting experience. I make it a point to harass patrolmen who call me a rug.

I made it a point to kill anyone who mistreated me (unless they were quest important) on my Dark Brotherhood character. Added some fun as I would always aim to do it without ending up with a Bounty.

Elsweyr? I'll definitely look into thatRaistlin Majere wrote:Moonpaths of Elsweyr is a nice little side mission giving a taste of how Elswyer might look if every realized in Skyrim.
I already have all the other mods (incl texture packs)
Mods I recommend (mostly for immersion):
Ashen Race (needs race compability)
Alternate Start
Cloaks
Real Wildlife + Realistic Wildlife loot
Vampire Effect Project
Vampire Overhaul
Winter is coming (more and better cloaks)
Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
It's been a while since I played Skyrim. I've been meaning to get back into it but the thought of having to update all of the mods I use keeps putting me off. Seriously I think I was using over 100 of the bloody things.
My main character is a Dumer mage who has a pathological hatred of the Nords. I role play that she grew up in Windhelm and to say that she and her family were treated poorly by the locals is an understatement. So yeah, poor Ralof doesn’t last long after he guides her to Riverwood :stick:
She also joined every guild/group that she could, so she became Master of the Thieves Guild, leader of the Dark Brotherhood, the new Archmage and Harbinger of the companions. Eventually she sided with the Empire, though she actually couldn’t care less about the future of Skyrim, the civil war and the Thalmor, she just wanted to wipe Windhelm off the map.

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
My style of playing TES games involves only one character per game, so needless to say that not only does my Nord lady Neverwinter ( yeah, unimaginitive...) control the dragons but every deadra damn faction there is. She specialises in destruction, lockpicking, restoration, one-hand weapons and light armor ( though during Dawnguard I started to train her to wear ebony).
She chose to support the Stormcloaks since I initially thought that marrying Ulfric would be somewhat interesting. Unfortunately, that ship didn't fly, so she settled with the next best thing and married the bald mercenary who used to sit in Candlehearth Hall (?).

My main character is a Nord Warrior, sword and shield. There's something satisfying about bashing things in the face. Flame breath is my prefered Shout.
Harbinger the Companions, married Aela, stayed neutral during the civil war.
Would have finished the Dragon threat off if the game didn't bug out so hard that my character is now stuck in Sovangard unable to finish the mission.
Not even kidding. All my previous saves were in the same bugged out state, back at least twenty hours of gametime. No way was I rolling back the save that far!

Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
I've just started out my character, I bought the game about 2 months ago on PC. My xbox character has over 300 hours clocked in, done every achievement etc...
My PC playthrough I haven't even hit Whiterun yet because all I've been doing is modding it, PC is so much superior.
I've got a campsite mod which allows me to make a camp in the game whenever I need too. So i'm under heavy immersion in the game whenever it gets late at night, I set up camp and relax there for the night.
The immersion is doubled because I'm right at the start of the game, so even a mudcrab is troublesome for me lol. Makes the game feel so much more alive!

I find not using fast travel is a great way to increase immersion. As for camp sites, my character travels primarily at night, so inns are preferable to sleeping out in the open at a camp site. If there are no inns near by there's usually a fairly well hidden bandit camp I can raid.

Do you know Arktwend (TC for Morrowind), Nehrim (TC for Oblivion) and the in-development Enderal (TC for Skyrim) by SureAI?
Re: Any Skyrim fans out here?
My main character is a female imperial rogue/hunter/assasin, who joined the drak brotherhood, became the leader of the companions, joined the thieves guild, and joined the college of winterhold. She has completed Dawnguard and sided with the dawnguard. She also cured Serana.
As for personality, she pretty much is a wild card. At times she can be a heroic saviour, at other times a ruthless assasin. She is mostly just an opportunist who wants to make as much money as possible, while also trying to minimize collateral damage by sneaking around and either killing enemies with her bow or knife.
She is specialized in light armour, bows, one-handed weapons, sneaking, lockpicking, persuasion, smithing, and illusion.

Here's a question about followers:
Would a stealth based character do well with a follower; and if so which follower has the best synergy with such a character?
