Design looks great and it is now confirmed (sony really stuck it to xbox i loved it) that disc games can be sold and you can lend it to anyone you desire and officially no drm crap and no 24 hour verification xbox crap. I think its safe to say ps4 wins

Also, just 399$, 100$ (!!!) less than Xbone
Wow. I just don't see how MS goes forward without making adjustments. Sony has certainly seized the initiative. If MS lets this go, hardware sales will likely skew in favor of PS4. MS will have a difficult time persuading devs to give exclusivity or priority release timing to XBone if it continues for long enough, and then what advantage is MS left with? I can't think of one.

The thing is, that maybe microsoft decided to do away with the gamers altogether and just say "fuck it" to potential sales to hardcore gamers - some will buy it regardless, some will buy it cuese of exclusives, but i think their target is to get just the people who generally don't care about gaming to buy it - gimmicky voice and gesture control, focus on TV features and multitasking - frankly it is more suitible to watching TV, movies, TV Series in HD, playing DVDs and Blu-rayas, and streaming all that content from the internet. HD sports tranlsations etc. Gaming here is just a silver lining sort of a bonus - so you watched all you movies and all the sports events that you wanted - did you knwo that you can play a game with? and not just sme lame tacked on game - but full on hardcore gaming capabilities? Gaming is not shamefull! it is fun!
Something along those lines.
And Gamers? Who cares about gamers. They are sick, dirty people who never wash and don't keep themselves in shape - all they do is game all day anbd thus are poor by defenition (want proof? they say our awesome 500$ device is too expenive for them. Damn hippies)

Re: Playstation 4
Sony has won over my puny PC-gamer's interests with their PS4.
But those extra $100...I guess the extra entertainment functions of the Xbone will have to make up for the higher price.
Meanwhile, I almost feel bad for MS for how the NSA thing chose to happen now.
On the other hand, the stock market didn't seem to be either impressed by Sony, or disappointed by Microsoft.

Rule 1 on stock markets:
Human idiocy mirrors perfectly on the stock markets.
Rule 2 on stock markets:
Typically you would expect to have cause (i.e. XBone PR desaster) and effect (i.e. MS stocks decline).
Sometimes this is true, but what most of the "enlightened market dofusees" do is looking at the stocks and trying to explain the way the stocks behave with something at hand, right now. They just ignore the fact that some news need time to be absorbed and diffuse into the minds of the share holder, leading to a time shift of a few days, maybe even weeks. And suddenly you have some weird effects on the markets they try to explain with the election of some local, unimportant politician and not by the horrendously bad economic forecasts of last week.

Exactly :P
And actually historically, Microsoft is the one to introduce the NEW things to people - aside from Nintendo gameplay gimmicks and Sony hardware advancements.
What I'm getting from Sony isn't that they think M$'s attempts are exactly 'wrong', just that this isn't the time to implement changes - things like making console gaming digital-copy CENTRIC, strict DRM, and Internet connection focus (if not requirement).
But M$ introducing these concepts means it is now part of the market. Like with several other 'advancements' that they brute forced onto gamers (things like the hard drives and high-speed Internet requirements that yes, people complained about at the time).
On M$'s end though, I think they might have bitten off more than they can chew, and at worst, may go the way of the Dreamcast.

Its damning that Sony was quick to jump on this hot topic...but I am not sure that's its fair...it may be (and completely warranted), but I don't have enough information to judge exactly how things will work for the Xbox One - and to me (at least right now) that is my source of frustration.

they've already clarified (Microsoft).
You can't just lend games. It's not possible. It won't be allowed.
1. It needs to register to YOU, and if on a friend's console, it checks online every HOUR.
2. If it registers to them, you can only lend a game once, and its only to someone who has been a Xbox friend for a MONTH. after that one time, you can't be given.
So yeah, technically you can lend/give a game, but what is shown in that video is something that the One simply will not allow, with the current proposed rules.

And this is where I disagree somewhat...everything you said is accurate with one caveat (and this just may be my interptation of it) - it speaks for the digital copy of the game...unless I have missed something entirely MS, has said nothing about the physical disc itself.
Edit: And this is the exact reason that I said the lack of information is my source of frustration...the above is my interptation of the information presented to date, but is only that. IMHO there simply is not enough information or clarity regarding the situation.

Why would you think that only applies to digital copies?

I'm pretty sure they said something about installation being required so discs will have the same restrictions as downloaded ones.

To my knowledge the game is installed completely to the hard drive, so in this regard the disk is irrelevant. Wait, Raven just said that.

Yep. Disks are just a key. Well, a key bloated with data, but that's it.
It's pretty silly and draconian.

Microsoft is trying to force the rules of a service market onto a product market. You are paying for a service and constrained by the rules of a service such as lack of ownership rights while also being expected to constantly pay premium for individual new products.

Re: Playstation 4
Dsharrah, all games for the Xbox One will be this way. The Discs force you to install the game and it locks to your account and your console, much like DLC does now. The only difference is that it is now account bound as well, so you can't even share the games with others in your household.
Currently any game I buy or DL with my Gamertag is tied to my SYSTEM and my kids can play it without trouble. What Microsoft has stated in their press-releases and everything is that this is no longer possible. The reason Sony has jumped so hard on disc trading is because of Microsoft's stance on it. This isn't 'interpretation', it is what they have actually announced.
