Do you usually perform the Dark Ritual?
The Dark Ritual
Pretty self explanatory...I usually do perform the ritual. And you?

Re: The Dark Ritual
I perform it because I generally do trust Morrigan, despite how foolish that may seem.

I must be a real sucker...she's usually my preferred LI...makes Witch Hunt and subsequently the Warden's abscence in DA II make so much more sense.

Yes, usually, though my main playthrough, and only completed one without using mods to just set a save flag with my decisions didn't have the ritual and my Warden died. :(

Nope. I don't trust Morrigan and I never wanted to die of old age anyway.

I usually make Alistair king, don't do the ritual, then let Loghain kill the arch-demon.

You wont even if you survive the Archdemon. The taint will get you before old age and thus your death will be in the Deep Roads (if not before) not in a bed.
But I see what you mean

I guess it is about 50/50 since I tend to try to make different choices to see the different results.

Re: The Dark Ritual
well my females only have to convince alistair or logan make loghain bed morrigan is funny has hell. my males all most all bang morrigan and all love options so its not hard for them.
And about trust morrigan i dont trust anyone in dragon age maybe fenris or varric the rest factions grups are black as coal.Besides i think child would be a plot armor cannon thing with morrigan having child with the orlesian warden.

All the time. She's my #1 love interest, and doing this was normal.

Re: The Dark Ritual
Thing is, I never really considered it a bad thing to do that ritual. Rescuing an Old God from the taint of the Darkspawn sounded worth while.
At least at the time.
Then I came to learn more about what those Old Gods were like by way of inference from how the characters from the Tevintor Imperium have acted and evidence of their past deeds.
Now? I'm not so sure it was a good idea.

Yes with my male warden, no with the female.
I have to say the ultimate sacrifice ending is really well made, shame Awakening throws it out the window and reverts to default decisions. BioWare

Re: The Dark Ritual
I'm trying to do a new canon run for DAI just in case I can import on PC. And I have this issue that's really pissing me off...
It seems as though you can't do Awakening if you're one of the precious few people not willing to make a deal with the devil. Oh sure, you can play as the Orlesian Warden-Commander, but only in a separate, clean file file. You can't play as the Warden, die fighting the arch-demon, play Awakening as the Olesian Warden-Commander, and then import all that into DA2 and later DAI. They're 2 files, you can only import one.
And yes, they've told us that playing Awakening with a sacrificed save means retconning your decision not to take the dark ritual.

Re: The Dark Ritual
I voted yes because while I haven't done it yet (still have Redcliffe, Haven, Landsmeet, Ending to go), I'm pretty sure I'll be doing the Ritual with Alistair instead of myself.

Romanced Morrigan, did the ritual, followed her through the mirror...
... and throughout it all, I never trusted her. Likely never will, either. Thing is, I don't really care that much about "trust" with these things. I do not know what Morrigan's exact motives are, but I do know that I want to go along with her for the ride. And I am generally compatible with her anyway (get her approval more often than not) so I am not too worried about conflict of interests. So, deal on, and through the mirror I go (half-expecting a dagger in the heart as I reach the other side, but again, that's part of the excitement).
The ritual itself I am okay with, though. I agree the idea some things in the world are worth preserving. An Old God? Sounds equal parts scary, dangerous, and fascinating. Hell, I preserved the Reapers in Mass Effect, so there.

Re: The Dark Ritual
Speaking of Morrigan, I noticed something. Shale really doesn't like "the swamp witch." She points out two thing: first, that Morrigan's reason for traveling with the Warden is unknown. Second, that since no one else can read Flemeth's tome, we don't really know for sure what it says and it may say nothing remotely like "Flemeth steals her daughters' bodies."
Thing is, the first was already proven to be a good insight. Morrigan really did have a sinister hidden agenda for traveling with the Warden. If Shale was right about that, why not about Flemeth's grimoire as well?
Oh and I've probably said this before, but if anyone is expecting something called "the dark ritual" where the machiavellian character needs your help to save an archdemon's soul to end well... well... sorry, but you're kind of a dumbass.
