Great moments in video games
Describe your great moments in video games here.
Here's some of mine to get this thread started (not going to rank them).
Incarnation encounter in Planescape: Torment.
Kerghan's monologue in Arcanum.
Final encounter with Illusive Man in ME 3.
Reaching the end of Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal.

Metroid Prime 3: Corruption:
I usually enjoy smaller faster bosses over towering behemoths in games, especially if the boss is similar to yourself (though not necessarily a mirror) There is just this feel of a duel to such battles.'
Step in Dark Samus of the Metroid Prime series and primary antagonist. Not much of challenge on Normal or Hard, but on Hypermode this battle became a whole new beast. Facing off against Dark Samus became a dance of death with the intensity turned up full from the first person perspective and fantastic motion controls.
Okami:
Another final boss, though this time it was not the intensity of the boss which caused my heart to beat faster, but the scenes halfway through is what makes this battle shine. After a long battle the villain leaves Ammy drained of her strength and everything seems bleak.
I wont spoil what exactly happens in case someone has not played it, but what follows is a major moment of heartwarming and some epic ass kicking moments later.
Now this battle is epic enough on its own, but the music which comes on pushed it into Epicness. It truly is the Rising Sun.
Wonderful 101:
No spoilers here and I could add a dozen moments from this game, but ultimately it is the final boss. The final boss is a 30+ minute beat down which becomes more and more outrageous, ludicrous and over the top epic with every stage passed.
Every time you think the boss is down for good he rises from the ashes for one more round culminating in the most epic and hilarious rapid button press event set to the tune of the games own opening sequence.
Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword:
No list of mine is complete without the Legend and much like Metroid Prime 3 the motion controls take the cake on this one, as well as the games in your face villian, Ghirahim. The final showdown with Ghirahim is a duel of swords and with the motion controls that is what it feels like. Every blow must be fast, but also precise in this hectic duel with one of the creepiest and greatest Legend of Zelda villians.
And that must be enough for now. Might add more later.

Re: Great moments in video games
I agree with Spec Ops: The Line and The Last of Us, and I'll add the Suicide Mission from ME2 and the final walk in Bastion
The Suicide Mission is here because I don't think any game has ever really pulled something like that off before. Sure, games might have characters live or die based on your decisions, but to have a mission where your entire team can die if you play your cards wrong (right? lol) AND THEN HAVE THAT CARRY OVER TO THE NEXT GAME is pretty frakking incredible. Combine that with how almost the ENTIRE GAME is building up to that one mission, and when you get there it not only matches but exceed one's expectations and you have one incredible moment. The music, the cinematography, the environment design, the battle through the base culminating with the Reaper, and the life and death decisions you make at every turn all come together to create something truly special and unforgettable.
The final walk in Bastion with Zulf is awesome in a different way. Instead of being a massive, action packed, epic battle, it's simply the Kid carrying Zulf through a horde of foes, Zulf's own people no less, without any way to defend yourself. Eventually, the attacks will slow down until they cease entirely, with the only one who continues the attack being killed by his commander. These people wanted both Zulf and the Kid dead, yet they're so impressed by the Kid's determination to rescue Zulf, who had betrayed him previously, that they lay down their arms and allow him to leave. Combined with the amazing soundtrack, it creates a scene that's simultaneously awesome and heartwarming.
Edit: Oh, and since I'm certain someone will mention it eventually, I'll just put all of Katawa Shoujo here as well. KS counts as a game, right?
