I heard the rumors about Halo 2 getting an Anniversary Edition, but didn't realize they were going to do all 4 main Halo games for the next gen. This makes me very happy indeed.

It makes me happy as well.  All four MC Halos deserve a next gen release.  Hell, EVERY Halo deserves a next gen release.  They're all fantastic, and they stand the test of time MUCH better than some other games.

I agree. Wars, Reach, and ODST deserve it too. That said, I'm thankful they're doing this much so I won't complain.

I'm hardly complaining either, I'm just saying it would be nice if they did the rest, too.   Reach in particular would give me great pleasure.  It's still my favorite Halo.

They issued a rewritten version of Fall of Reach that was consistent with the new canon established by Reach IIRC.  Nothing extreme, just a few bits to fix any inconsistencies in the timeline and whatnot.

Really? I'll have to check that out some day then.

They actually issued revised versions of several of the old Halo novels to make them more consistent with the universe as the games expanded it.  Like I said before, no massive changes, just some tweaks in certain places to improve consistency.
