Because there's a top five for everything else!

1. Mass Effect trilogy
2. Pokemon Gold/Silver/Crystal (not the remakes. GBC sounds please)
3. Xmen First Class
4. Batman (1989)
5. New Doctor Who (with Murray Gold composing)

Oh another one! Liara

1. Tron Legacy (80's sound+classical music+electro+Daft Punk ftw)
2. Drive (80's sound ftw)
3. Berlin Calling (german movie about Berlin's club scene)
4. Mass Effect 2, 3, 1 in that order (can't beat "Suicide Mission" & "Thane", but "Mars" comes pretty close)
5. LOTR

And those are only the ones I'm currently obsessed of. Then, there are
BSG, AC2, AC3, King Kong (the new one), Pulp Fiction etc.

1's my favourite of the three, purely because of the main theme and it's many variations. There isn't a single track in all three I dislike though, so the whole trilogy get's my vote still.

Games? So hard, because so many belong to series. But here I go -
ME Trilogy
Elder Scrolls series
MGS (All main numbered games)
Deus Ex 1 and Human Revolution
Max Payne 3
Bioshock 1 and 2

But also shout outs to games with awesome soundtracks and non-original licensed music -
GTA games
Fallout 3 and New Vegas

hehe:

Mass Effect Trilogy - Specifically "Mass Effect Theme" "Uncharted Worlds" "Vigil" "M4 Pt2" are my favs for ME1, "The Illusive Man" "The End Run" "New Worlds" are my favs for ME2, and "Leaving Earth" "Das Malefitz" are my favs for ME3

StarCraft - Specifically the Terran One theme. I can listen to that almost all day

Final Fantasy 7 - Favs include "One Winged Angel" "Flowers Blooming in the Church" "Red XIII's Theme" "Areith's Theme" "Launching a Dream into Space"

Command and Conquer - I have a ton of favorites but most of mine stem from the first game

Anything Nintendo - This includes Donkey Kong Country, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Star Fox, Eternal Darkness, etc from the NES day music till now

On a related note, just received my Twilight Symphony download from Zelda Re Orchestrated (ZREO) a massive 3 hour long orchestration of the Twilight Princess soundtrack.

I know what I will be listening to now.

What is amazing is that the orchestration started as a minor fan project which then decided they wanted to do something bigger. So with a kick starter like backing from the fans and permission from Nintendo they went to work and created this.

For me soundtracks need two things, the music obviously has to be good, but it also has to be well integrated into it's story, having recognizable themes and such. What's interesting is that this list would be the same if it was for "top five stories".

1. Mass Effect
2. Halo
3. The Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit
4. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare
5. Red vs. Blue
