Re: The Dragon Age Thread
Ok seriously, these PC loading times (over a minute for even simple stuff?) is driving me away until a patch, or if I decide to make room on my SSD. Also some stuttering and at least one crash :(.
When the game is working, I'm enjoying it. Into the Hinterlands now, and at my pace, I won't finish DAI for at least weeks, maybe months. Willingly camping out in Hinterlands for a while, no matter what people say!
Using a controller when I'm playing the game on my TV, and might continue that when it is on my monitor, so that whole PC-control issue might not apply for me...
And the greater 'action-adventure' genre focus compared to more pure RPG in previous titles (even DA2 in some ways) is not something I'm hostile towards. The tactical cam certainly needs changes, but I'm not as fussed about the overall iteration of it as others are. I'm not a pure tactics player so it works great for me to just tell a party member to use a single ability or move to a general area that they're needed at, and that seems to work.
Inventory system will need some getting used to.. I'm loot whoring and already easily reaching cap. The loot-dar is bullshit and if they're going to keep this, Bioware better make the highlight more visible, last longer, and maybe even indicate on the minimap where the items are located. Personally I'd prefer an option of constant knowledge of where nearly loot is, like DAO and DA2 had..
I may have gladly decided to hide most of the UI when not in combat, but I don't consider it immersion breaking to ALWAYS see that 'Loot' indicates where 'Loot' is! Hell, the loot-dar itself is MORE immersion breaking than that could ever be.
Some FPS issues and I'm playing on Auto (aka mostly High). I'll either take it to Medium overall and deal with the graphics downgrade, or look into the more demanding settings and only turn those to Medium. Its a little too choppy in the more crowded/busy areas.

It must also be said there still are some really cool and epic scenes only BW writers can provide.
And I like that part:
'The shepherd’s lost
And his home is far
Keep to the stars
The dawn will come'
I like to think it might be a small nod to another game we love.
Yeah I definitely had feelz when they started singing this.

Thanks, that's so much better. I quite liked the one with white stripes, but the one with the best stat increase looks like clown makeup.

Re: The Dragon Age Thread
As massive as Dragon Age: Inquisition already is, there were some things the team wanted to get in at launch, but we just ran out of time. We’ll be creating these new features and content and adding them into your game over time because we love our DAI players. Multiplayer will also be receiving regular content updates.
BW, don't get my hopes up that you'll actually be adding gameplay to DAI without it being a DLC that costs money. Don't do that to me.

From left to right:
Mikoto - Lvl24 (almost 25) Elf Warrior 2H Champion
Nyvra - Lvl18 Human Mage Knight-Enchanter
Arynn - Lvl3 Elf Rogue gonna-be-assassin
Tenshi - Lvl2 Human Warrior gonna-be-reaver (still in prologue)
Archer - Lvl2 Human Rogue gonna-be-tempest, might be experimental archer-dualwield-hybrid (still in prologue)
(for PC users: open console and type UI.DrawEnable 0 to disable UI for better screenshots, same command with 1 to reactivate)

Re: The Dragon Age Thread
Looks like they've addressed this in the new ps4 patch. Now loot and resources show up on the minimap when you ping the loot-dar. It's definitely an improvement.SwobyJ wrote:The loot-dar is bullshit and if they're going to keep this, Bioware better make the highlight more visible, last longer, and maybe even indicate on the minimap where the items are located. Re: The Dragon Age Thread
Lv 6-7 Human Male Mage Spirit Magic now. Seems I'm about 1/2 done Hinterlands, at least in terms of the general exploration and completing content shown on the map normally. Got Blackwall and Vivienne, will pick up Sera soon.
AMD driver is updated and game is patched. Glad to see the radar in but I still think the whole system could do with more changes. At least I'm now not stumbling around all the time.
Many/most/all peoples' hair meshes are shiny now. :((((((
Probably will at least finish the bulk of Hinterlands this weeks before moving on.
Switched out Cassandra with Blackwall, made him two-hander. Happy with Varric for now, but will probably replace with Cole. Solas may always be my main mage, unless I get bored of him.

Re: The Dragon Age Thread
Lv 8 now. Only missing Dorian and Cole and Iron Bull. Seemingly wrapping up most of the Hinterlands content. Got my horse!
I think I really am going to go Mage path. Just have to trigger it on the War Table, but may wait a bit longer.
EDIT: Level 9. Went Mage path. Surprised myself by picking Sera for it (because I've already seen the Varric material so much on Youtube). Took them into the Inquisition, regardless of the negativity I got from it. Storm Coast and got Iron Bull so I may be debating on whether to bring IB or Blackwall or both depending on what I feel (Cassandra may be mostly backbenched this playthrough).

The story is good, but rather short, and feels very anticlimatic at key-points, for example

Re: The Dragon Age Thread
Ok, I think I may have read something wrong but I'm not entirely sure.
In the southern part of the Western Approach there is a mine (one of the quarries you can claim is located here). The mine is a deep vertical shaft. Literature around the mine indicates that the Wardens had dug down into an ancient Dwarven thaig where the song of the Old Gods was loud enough to vibrate the very ground (as opposed to just sing in your head). The implication was that the Wardens had located the resting place of an Old God / Archdemon. Cave-ins ultimately prevented the Wardens from reaching the creature and so the mine was abandoned.
I asked in chat and someone suggested the writings were about the 2nd Blight, when an archdemon arose in the west of Orlais. Yet, when you claim the quarry the description of the quarry clearly states that the ground around the mine seems to be trembling.
I suppose my question is whether or not the mine represents the location of one of the last Old Gods that the darkspawn have somehow missed. Did I misread something?

Re: The Dragon Age Thread
There are two more Old Gods I believe according to the lore. So that means there should be a 6th and 7th blight. I wonder what's gonna happen on the last blight.. Will the world finally end?.. Or will the Darkspawn just disappear forever..questions abound. I'm kinda thinking this will the plot of DA 4
