Here's one - Shot in the Dark, by Within Temptation (which a nice Russian chap has done an ME video for):

I’ve been left out alone like a damn criminal
I’ve been praying for help 'cause I can’t take it all
I’m not done,
It’s not over.

Now I’m fighting this war since the day of the fall
And I’m desperately holding on to it all
But I’m lost
I’m so damn lost

Oh I wish it was over,
And I wish you were here
Still I’m hoping that somehow

‘Cause your soul is on fire
A shot in the dark,
What did they aim for when they missed your heart?
I breathe underwater
It’s all in my hands
But what can I do?
Don’t let it fall apart
A shot in the dark [2x]

In the blink of an eye
I can see through your eyes
As I’m lying awake I’m still hearing the cries.

And it hurts,
Hurts me so bad.
And I’m wondering why I still fight in this life
‘Cause I’ve lost all my faith in this damn bitter strife

And it’s sad
It’s so damn sad

Oh I wish it was over,
And I wish you were here
Still I’m hoping that somehow

‘Cause your soul is on fire
A shot in the dark,
What did they aim for when they missed your heart?
I breathe underwater
It’s all in my hands
But what can I do?
Don’t let it fall apart
A shot in the dark [5x]

I feel you are fading away [4x]

‘Cause your soul is on fire
A shot in the dark,
What did they aim for when they missed your heart?
I breathe underwater
It’s all in my hands
But what can I do?
Don’t let it fall apart

Oh, your soul is on fire
A shot in the dark,
What did they aim for when they missed your heart?
I breathe underwater
It’s all in my hands
But what can I do?
Don’t let it fall apart
A shot in the dark [5x]

And another, which could be a metaphor for slow indoctrination, Stein um Stein by Rammstein. The Youtube page has the lyrics in the original German and English so I won't copy-paste them here.

Indoctrination Songs - Page 2 Empty Re: Indoctrination Songs

Post by Eryri Mon Sep 09, 2013 10:41 am

Just remembered this one by the Killers

Spaceman

It started with a low light
Next thing I knew they ripped me from my bed
And then they took my blood type
It left a strange impression in my head

You know that I was hoping
That I could leave this star-crossed world behind
But when they cut me open
I guess that changed my mind

And you know I might
Have just flown too far from the floor this time
'Cause they calling me by my name

And they're zipping white light beams
Disregarding bombs and satellites
And that was the turning point
That was one lonely night

The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down"
It's all in your mind

Well, now I'm back at home and
I'm looking forward to this life I live
You know it's gonna haunt me
So hesitation to this life I give

You think you might cross over
You're caught between the devil and the deep blue sea
You better look it over
Before you make that leap

And you know I'm fine
But I hear those voices at night
Sometimes they justify my claim

And the public don't dwell on my transmission
'Cause it wasn't televised
But it was the turning point
Oh what a lonely night

The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down"
It's all in your mind

The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down"
It's all in your mind

My global position systems are vocally addressed
They say the Nile used to run from east to west
They say the Nile used to run from east to west
I'm fine but I hear those voices at night sometimes

The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down"
It's all in your mind

The star maker says, "It ain't so bad"
The dream maker's gonna make you mad
The spaceman says, "Everybody look down"
It's all in your mind

It's all in my mind
It's all in my mind

Freestate. DM. Ultra.

I can hear your soul crying
Listen to your spirit sighing
I can feel your desperation
Emotional deprivation

Let yourself go, let yourself go
Let your feelings show

Picking up the conversation
Deep in your imagination
Tune into the lonely voices
Talking of their only choices

Let yourself go, let yourself go
Let your spirit grow

Step out of your cage
And onto the stage
It's time to start
Playing your part
Freedom awaits
Open the gates
Open your mind
Freedom's a state

I can taste the tears falling
The bitterness inside you calling
Yearning for a liberation
Emotional emancipation

Let yourself go, let yourself go
Let your senses overflow

Step out of your cage
And onto the stage
It's time to start
Playing your part
Freedom awaits
Open the gates
Open your mind
Freedom's a state

Indoctrination Songs - Page 2 Empty Re: Indoctrination Songs

Post by Guest Wed Sep 18, 2013 3:16 pm

lol
joke song time (I know this song is totally inappropriate)

Stand back!
Stand back!
What are those dogs doing sniffing at my feet
They're on to something, picking up
Picking up this heat, this heat
[Chorus 1:]
Give me steam
And how you feel to make it real
Real as anything you've seen
Get a life with this dreamer's dream

You know your culture from your trash
You know your plastic from your cash
When I lose sight of the track
You know the way back
But I know you
You know your stripper from your paint
You know your sinner from your saint
Whenever heaven's doors are shut
You kick them open but
I know you

[Chorus 2:]
Give me steam
And how you feel to make it real
Real as any place you've been
Get a life with the dreamer's dream
Stand back!
Stand back!
Can't you see I've lost control I'm getting indiscreet
You're moving in so close 'til I'm picking up
Picking up this heat, this heat
[Chorus 1]
You know your green from your red
You know the quick from the dead
So much better than the rest
You think you've been blessed

But I know you
You know your ladder from your snake
You know the throttle from the brake
You know your straight line from a curve
You've got a lot of nerve
But I know you
[Chorus 2]
Everybody nosedive
Hold your breath, count to five

Back-slap, booby-trap,
Cover it up in bubble wrap
Room shake, earthquake
Find a way to stay awake
It's going to blow, it's going to break
This is more than I can take
Oh yeah, I need steam
Feel the steam all around me
Ah you're turning up the heat
When I start to dream aloud
See you move your hands and feet
Won't you step into this cloud of steam
This steam
[Chorus 1]
Help me yeah
Ready to steam out the log jam
Stir crazy from the freezer to the boil
Water's bubbling, it's b-b-b-bubbling
Bubbling [Repeat x 4]
Like it's coming to a boil
Give me steam, lady
Give me steam around me now
Ahh, coming alive [Repeat x 2]
Said give me some steam

God the 90s are weird. I prefer 80s and 00s, except for stuff like kid's cartoons.

Years after control/synthesis, Shep reappears:

Shepard Oh no, not me, I never lost control. You're face to face with the man who sold the world.

"Oblivion"
(feat. Susanne Sundfør)

Since I was young, I knew I’d find you
But our love was a song sung by a dying swan
And in the night, you hear me calling,
You hear me calling
And in your dreams you see me falling, falling

Breathe in the light
I’ll stay here in the shadow
Waiting for a sign, as the tide grows
Higher, and higher, and higher

And when the nights are long
All those stars recall your goodbye, your goodbye

And in the night you'll hear me calling,
You'll hear me calling
And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling
And in now you'll hear me calling,
You'll hear me calling
And in your dreams you'll see us falling, falling

Breathe in the light and say goodbye
Breathe in the light and say goodbye.

Zatox & Ran-D - Indoctrination

Why don't you stop for a minute
Start thinking for your own
'Cause the thing in control
Is the media zone
You're being played, motherfucker
Like a marionette
You're bein' brainwashed by the system
And the news they spread [2x]

Why don't you stop for a minute
Start making some choices
Cause you're being controlled
By their evil voices
You're being played, motherfucker
Living in a lie
You're nothing but a machine
'Till the day you die

You're being played, motherfucker

You're being played

Why don't you stop for a minute

You're being played, motherfucker

You're being played [4x]

@Swoby I'd definitely rise from the rubble to that track. As far as husk blitzing goes, I'd throw on some of this Australian groovyness.

Dawn of Leviathan - Visions and Delusions.

http://dawnofleviathan.bandcamp.com/

I am the disconnection separating you from everything
I have seen your world be corrupted (fall to nothing).
You have brought this plague upon yourselves.

Why have you abandoned us? Why have you forsaken us?
I deceive; how can't you see that this world is over?

Seeking a way to find a meaning; the essence of our souls.
Finding solace in the lights our eyes behold; why are these lights fading away?
The skies will keep on falling down.

The stars keep on burning out.

My dreams will keep on dying, no longer will I draw on hope.
But when I close my eyes, these visions bring me back to you.

But when I close my eyes, these visions bring me back to you.
These visions bring me back to you.

Look into the eyes of a being so broken, fallen into the depths of a world; soul consuming.
The days all turn to gray as we march into the cold arms of our graves to be.

In this suffering you will find nothing, a point of bleak inception
A picture perfect destruction of a mind wrapped in doubt

You're nothing to me; you are nothing to me

My dreams will keep on dying, no longer will I draw on hope.
But when I close my eyes, these visions bring me back to you.

These visions bring me back to you.

Seeking a way to find a meaning; the essence of our souls.
Finding solace in the lights our eyes behold; why are these lights fading away?
The skies will keep on falling down.
Why are these lights fading away; the stars keep on burning out.
Why are these skies fading away; the lights keep on burning out again.
---------------------------------------
DESCENDING DELUSIONS

Here I stand on the ashes of mind that has been entombed in silence; here we suffer in the realm of attrition.I will not echo your words as they resonate in defiance, you cannot comprehend the sombre beauty.

I don’t know how I can take this, whilst we’re forced to kneel before vultures, emptiness is just another tomb that consumes us. Lost in a labyrinth of anguish, I’m just trying to find my way out and conclude my mourning.

Oh, how the skies have fallen, unending delusions come forth to curse all of us.

As I gaze upon the sunset, I can feel the eyes of deceit glaring through the abyss that has been left inside of me. At last we’ve come into the starless night that will define us as obscured minds just waiting to expire.

Why, suddenly, are your tears falling? We've only got ourselves to blame, living fantasy and fiction but now we are now awake. The reason why you are all dying? Are you fucking insane? This scourge has descended upon us; behold your final fucking grave.

The winds are motion; our time has come to an end.

Swoby, thanks for introducing me to Celldweller - no idea how I've not heard of them before as their music is all over the place in games and films and Klayton's been around like forever, but it's seriously good stuff.

Here, moar Celldweller for ya!
Reminds me of Reapers hiding in the Dark Space...

Beyond the reaches of our galaxy
Three figures watch over us all
As suns are rising on a distant planet's shores
They are watching, and waiting, always orchestrating

Celestial covering of human kind
Perfectly hovering in space and time
A world that turns when you're in control
Means we're bound to stand on ground that's unshakeable

Unshakeable

Unshakeable

They are watching, and waiting, always orchestrating

Beyond the reaches of mortality
Three figures watch over us all
As suns are setting on a distant planet's shores
They are watching, and waiting, always orchestrating

Celestial covering of human kind
Perfectly hovering in space and time
A world that turns when you're in control
Means we're bound to stand on ground that's unshakeable

Ooh, good one - that's another album on the shopping list then Smile . Pretty much all my earworms are now Celldweller. Meanwhile here's a song to fight indoctrination to by Paradise Lost:

You get high, with your destructive instinct
You get high, with your corrosive instinct -
Where can I go, to escape your foul mind tricks
You're trying it more, but you will never break me
Cause you presume, the winner's you but that's not true

So say just words to me, unreal what your hate's providing
Say just words to me, your talk is always contradiction
Say just words to me, you won't feel the warmth of friends around you
You say just words to me, is it true that there's worth inside,
So say just words to me.

Your designs, all the worse from power craving
Your desires, only where there's fire burning,
I'll show you the way, a pleasure that's for the taking
You're trying it more, but you won't get satisfaction
Couse you presume the winner is you, but that's not true
So say just words to me.

Who's that kid???

Haken - Nocturnal Conspiracy

No disturbance could wake me.
Observers are captivated
by nocturnal projections
of my vivid imagination.
Try as I might to recall the events of the night,
yet the deeper I hunt, the further away they run.

Moon rises, I shiver,
confiding in the mirror.
My ghost in the reflection
just witnessed the resurrection.
Lights flashed before my eyes
with scenes from someone else's life!

Nothing is quite as it seems,
something died inside of me.
By powers that be,
a man will live forever in paranoia.

I believe your conspiracy
when they're after me,
for what I revealed could change your life.

Scenes from someone else's life,
have they been planted in our minds?
Never have I ever taken a life,
but it seems overnight I've become a killer
on the run 'cause...

I believe your conspiracy
when they're after me
for what I revealed.

I believe your conspiracy
when they're after me
for what I revealed.
I believe your conspiracy
when they're after me,
for what I revealed will change your life.

Tonight I hang by a thread
as the voice in my head takes control
of this pain that I have felt before.
On trial, my confidence weakens.
I'm close to defeat,
but tonight the verdict will be televised.

Calling no witnesses to the stand,
clearing my name with no evidence.
Knowing this could be my final chance,
no one is coming to my defense.

Inside the truth is suppressed,
with unlimited access denied
to all the things you wish to hide.
The lies, the sex and the secrets
will tear us to pieces in time,
when no one can tell wrong from right.

Calling no witnesses to the stand,
clearing my name with no evidence.
Knowing this could be my final chance,
no one is coming to my defense.

Nocturnal conspiracy!
Nocturnal conspiracy!

Only a general feeling this time.

Across the Eerie waters,
Misty covered glass I spied
A sad procession, snaking down
The dry and deathly trail.
And as my telescopic eye
Focused on the marching line,
It settled on the fallen crown,
Now covered with a veil.

The heavy weight of mourning
Drew each head to face the ground.
Muscles tight on bearers' arms
Each body cold and frail.
And through the muslin mist
The beating drums, the only sound..
Twenty boats out in the bay
All ready to set sail.

Ashes.. take me back to earth..
Water.. quench my human thirst..
Ashes.. take me back to earth..
Water.. quench my human thirst..

My bones soaked in the icy cold
And fixed me where I lay,
Until each vessel left the shore
And made a line for me.
There never was a breeze,
The leaves were silent all that day.
They say the sails were ghosts
That stole the wind to set them free.

I layed transfixed,
Felt nothing, but the beating of my fear
As flames rose up and swallowed whole
Greatest of the fleet
The others circled round
And I heard chanting fill the air,
The ashes, lifted high
Were falling back into the sea.

Ashes.. take me back to earth..
Water.. quench my human thirst..
Ashes.. take me back to earth..
Water.. quench my human thirst..

Well, I was working away yesterday... and the DJ drops this old, forgotten 90's ditty...

Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)

Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman (Intergalactic Christ)

Pungent smells
They consummate my home
Beyond the black horizon
Trying to take control

See my girl
She shivers in her bones
The sun and zenith rising
Trying to take us all

There's a fire between us
So where is your god
There's a fire between us
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off this world

This sickening taste
Homophobic jokes
Images of fascist votes
Beam me up
Cause I can't breath
Spaceman
I always wanted you to go
Into Spaceman

It's time to terminate
The great wide world
Morbid fascinations
Television takes control
Decimation different races fall
Electronic information
Tampers with your soul

There's a fire between us
So where is your god
There's a fire between us
I can't get off the carousel
I can't get off this world

This sickening taste
Homophobic jokes
Images of fascist votes
Beam me up
Cause I can't breath

Firewall
The stars are blind my love
You will learn to crawl under oceans above
That force will fuel its hate
When it drains your soul it will flood the gate
Fear is a device
So quiet and precise
it’s not what i allow
not in my world now
Deep beneath the light
A spark will now ignite
And you will see me now
This is my world now
they come to your dreams with allusion
they come to bring shape to your mind
you know how to stop the intrusion
we all have to fight for the line
this force is in love with you
It wants you safe
It wants you well
This force knows what you can do
And what you can make
With your tattered shell
Faith in your device
So quiet and precise
Just when, not how
You can feel it now
Deep beneath the light
A spark will now ignite
And you will see me now
This is our world now
Everyone, hear the call to the firewall
Everyone has to fall at the firewall

The following is a synopsis of the story behind their work from their official website:

The year is 2048 AD. Humans are now able to leave their earthly home and travel to other dimensions. While traveling, a shell of their body remains on earth and functions at a reduced capacity.

For most people, life is more interesting and entertaining in these alternate dimensions; however, having neglected their loved ones at home, society on earth begins to deteriorate. Anarchy ensues and the travelers begin to receive millions of S.O.S.’s from their families on earth. Now, they must fight and struggle their way back home to save earth from certain destruction. Our story begins…………

More of the same idea.

~~~
It's not over until the bearded man sings!
Rise Like a Phoenix
Waking in the rubble
Walking over glass
Neighbors say we’re trouble
Well that time has passed
Peering from the mirror
No, that isn’t me
Stranger getting nearer
Who can this person be
You wouldnt know me at all today
From the fading light I fly
Rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I’m reborn
You know I will rise like a phoenix
But you're my flame
Go about your business
Act as if you’re free
Noone could have witnessed
What you did to me
Cause you wouldn’t know me today
And you have got to see
To believe
From the fading light I fly
Rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I’m reborn
I rise up to the sky
You threw me down but
I'm gonna fly
And rise like a phoenix
Out of the ashes
Seeking rather than vengeance
Retribution
You were warned
Once I'm transformed
Once I’m reborn
You know I will rise like a phoenix
But you’re my flame
