X-Wing Minatures Game
I admit it. I'm hopelessly addicted. It's like plastic crack.

Re: X-Wing Minatures Game
Boardgames are extremely expensive these days (in my country at least), take Warhammer for example!
You like some X-wing action, why won't ya try some Space Simulators such as: X-Wing Alliance, Rogue Squadron, TIE-Fighter, Wing Commander, Descent...y'know...
These are old games, but I think you can still run some of 'em on XP, just sayin'!
Or you can even join me in TOR's Galactic Starfighter and burn some Republic scum! ;>

X-Wing Alliance ftw!
Also, may I add Freelancer to that list? The online mode is still going iirc. Mhhh...even writing about it makes me want to play it again.

Re: X-Wing Minatures Game
My God, the topic's exploded.
Warhammer's turned int a f'n joke. The entry level for the hobby is extortionately high. £50 for a rule book, £30 for an army book, then you have to buy the actual models... you're probably looking at around £500 for a full single faction, triple that total if you actually want toadd enough options to not get bored (f you'll pardon the pun). Then there's the time it takes to build, paint everything and play the damn games...
I guess that's one of the things that hooked me on X-Wing. It's incredible value and insanely good fun. The starter set is £25, you get the rules, tokens, cards, dice and two fully painted TIE fighters and an X-Wing. Absolutely everything you need is in the set. The expansions for different ships are reasonably priced as well. - around £10 each for fighters, £20-25 for the larger ships. The rules are easy to pick up, really well balanced and fast paced and you can play a game in under an hour.
Yeah, I used to love playing X-Wing Alliance... I've still got a copy tucked away somewhere, I should really look into installing it with the XWA Update mods. In fact, Alliance is probably one of the reasons I picked up the board game in the first place.

Re: X-Wing Minatures Game
Games Workshop is rapidly turning into the EA of tabletop games. I used to love them but now every year they seem to do more stupid, greedy and petty things.
