Some ideas for forum design

Post by Norlond on Tue Jan 08, 2013 6:59 pm

Had a few ideas for forum design, so I threw some things together, here's what I got so far

1: Banner (with some variations, to give you an idea)
Used: Dream forest, Shepard Control eyes, Child, oily shadows, Saren, Harbinger eyes (overlay)

Red for destroy ;)

edit: just noticed we have a banner up there, oops Embarassed :D

2: Background (this is a downscaled version of my YT background)
Used: ME1-Shepard, LotSB-Liara, ME3-Garrus, Palaven, Beam

3: Emoticons (just EDI atm)

Thanks to Rif for the idea ("That was a joke"-emoticon)

Hope this made you guys feel inspired to make something yourselves, feedback and suggestions are welcome though :D

I like the red one most. Thought they all feel perhaps a little too much disorientating, even though that fits indoctrination. ;)

Current theme does not support background but I really like what you suggest.

Mind if I use your signature picture? :)

No backgrounds? :(
I'll remove a few parts from the banners then

Swapping the avatars to the right side if possible.
And howing coloured links would also be an improvement.

Mhm I think just removing the middle part is a start

maybe even make the background darker, the trees are kinda irritating, what do you think?

@Norlond, maybe remove the borders? Or make it black borders with edges of the picture fading to black so to speak.

Looking for how to do it, but seems you have to be founder of the forum for some of those priviledges (like editing forum layout). I can change theme for something else but prefer to talk with Andromidius before I'd do it.

Yeah, that's definitely the best version. Was thinking if it could be combined with existing banner nicely and we could remove the title altogether from the site.

Something like this:

Or a gif perhaps swapping them?

What do you suggest? Changing the color back to

Or make it unicolored?

Think what you are doing tot he writing is what is bothering me, but yes looks better white then red. Usually you should have the writing a neutral kind of colour.

Mind if I use that in my sig on bsn? If you don't how can I get it to link to this forum, or would that be against their forum rules?

edit: now that I think of it, you might want to resize it a little

@rose It's driving me nuts too, I have lots of fun/useful/... pics but stupid bb code won't resize them
[img=<w>x<h>] doesn't work
[img width=x height=y] doesn't work
[img (<width>x<height>)] doesn't work

I'm running out of options

Thanks, I must be doing something wrong though as I can't get the image to link to the forum. I don't have any trouble getting the image itself to work though.

I meant in regards to using the indoctrination banner as a sig at bsn. For some reason I'm failing to get it to link here.
