Also the music that plays over that scene is from Leviathan.

Here's his bio:

"When the Reaper-killer known as Leviathan fought the Collectors, it severed their connection to Harbringer with a thrall device. Most Collector forces died as a result, but a few survived. Now, these rare individuals fight for the memory of their people, a proud race broken by the Reapers."

Now read the last sentence again. Read it carefully. They're not talking about the Collectors. Bioware's writers are masters at this sort of thing.

Nice double meaning, did not notice that the first time.

"Now, these rare individuals fight for the memory of their people, a proud race broken by the Reapers." What double meaning? I'm oblivious even to the obvious.

Proud race can refer also to Leviathans.

It wouldn't be grammatically correct, strictly speaking, but it's close enough for the sake of speculation. Also, the final sentence fits the Leviathans better than Collectors.

Personally I don't get how separating the Reapers' connection can resurrect a Prothean heritage in a Collector, but I think that's what they're referring to here.

Didn't some MP dev mention that the description is actually propaganda that's told the troops they fight alongside?

I'm home for the weekend but I have to admit, I have no interest in any of these new characters. The Collector looked mildly interesting, but overall, basically nothing that gets me excited to play MP again.
