Re: IT Thread Archive
I was thinking of stickying this, but then I wondered why the unfriendly host? It gives you no choice but to disable your adblocker. Which means it wants to track your pc. Also, "making money with URL shortening"? What's that all about? "Adfly - Get paid to share your links on the Internet!"
It just rubs me the wrong way you're trying to make a buck with this, even if we're not paying directly. The website has the reputation of being an advertisement ploy. Hell, my browser closes the tab automatically because it's not trusted.
Don't get me wrong, I really do appreciate the backing up of the original IT threads. Just wondering if there isn't a friendlier place to host it. How big of a download is this?
I assume the older (smaller) file I downloaded is the same but without working links?

Re: IT Thread Archive
I picked Mediafire because it had enough space to store all three files. Wasn't due to ads or anything.
In total it is around 13 GB for all.
I'm not making any money off of this.
I'll try to find a different site. Maybe Google Drive.
Yeah, the smaller file doesn't have working links. You have to click to go to the next page on the forum.
I tried to get the polls working, but since they are located on the old BSN (social.bioware.com), it is proving more difficult to fetch them due to the layout of the site. I'll see if I can download the page offline with Chrome then edit the HTML file to make sure the link works. There isn't that many polls compared to the thousands of pages of forum text. Maybe less than 20.

Pretty cool. I remember lurking in the bsn and how the first thread moved so fast i could barely keep up with every 100th page.

Yeah, logging in after a day of work and finding out you'd missed 50 pages of finds and speculations. Long posts, quote pyramids, those were the days.

Re: IT Thread Archive
I also backed up the IT Thread Part 4 (located on the BSN Group page). I could upload that as well. The links don't work though.
Some other notes. Anyone who created a poll, but deleted their BSN account will also delete the poll. So there's some missing polls, but not too many. Less than five. The old BSN sites have a language filter, which I included to select from different languages instead of just English. So I included the page. Saved me from having to modify thousands of links on the old site. So if English isn't your native language, it'll translate it.
Downloaded all the Youtube videos last night. Now I just have to link them to the links on the pages

Even with some things not there. Having a piece to what started something grand to us and many others. At least we can have something to look back at.

The text still works at least. That didn't go missing.
I guess something is better than nothing. Even if it's not it's complete former self with all the pieces.
Most of the videos are kind of in this format.
Someone talks about the infinite ammo gun with text in their post, then they post a video about it.
Or whatever piece of evidence they found.
